Today I started a new journey. A few nights ago I was challenged by a friend to look in the mirror once a day and say something positive about who God created me to be.
Often when we look in the mirror, we look and pick apart every imperfection we see instead of being thankful for the perfectly imperfect person we are.
Don't get me wrong, we all have things we need to work on. Physically... Emotionally... Spiritually... And we should take those things seriously -while not neglecting the beautiful pieces of ourselves.
Today I looked in the mirror with tear-filled eyes and said, "I am a writer." I've been a writer for quite sometime. I've had poems published and received acknowledgments for well-written works. I've done screenwriting and directed my own plays.
But today, reality kicked in and I got excited about the fact MY FIRST BOOK is being published! I have an editor! And marketing reps! Do you have any idea how cool that is?! :)
A quote from the manuscript review is this:

I AM A WRITER. An Author. Writing is a gift given to me by God, and He has given YOU gifts as well. Maybe it's writing. Maybe it's not. Think about how boring the world would be if we were all writers... Or plumbers... Or musicians. Discover your gift/s. Embrace them. Then look in the mirror and affirm who and whose you are.
